What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
That what we do is easy. With the amount of money that is spent on projects, development and new construction - If you know the details of winning projects successfully performing the work, hiring, training, maintaining qualified managers, the support structure with HR, accounting, and other support it is very difficult to consistently make your planned fees.
What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Like most other contractors, our biggest challenge is successfully winning new projects and of course, performing the work as required.
What keeps you up at night?
Occasionally the difficult problem on a project or a big challenge in company operations.
What project is your company most proud of?
We are most proud of the CertainTeed manufacturing warehouse expansion project in Williamsport Maryland. This was a great win for us and CertainTeed has been a great client. The project has had many challenges but as a team, it has also been incredibly successful.
How does your ABC membership help your company?
The relationships that we have gained with subcontractors and other ABC members along with networking has been invaulable. ABC's events, training, and programs are well-orchestrated! The networking events provide a wonderful venue for nurturing relationships for those of us taking time out of our busy days to spend time with friends and partners.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always knew I wanted to build things.

Meeting new faces and seeing how I can help someone.
What are you like to work for?
Tough but fair.
What is your favorite movie or tv show?
I like watching sports and Western genre movies/shows.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy travelling to the beach, boating, golfing, watching college sports, going for motorcycle rides, and hunting.
What business/career advice do you wish you had when you began?
To make sure you're always looking at the bigger picture too.
What was your first job?
My first job was on the paper delivery route for the Washington Post.
