What is the biggest misconception about the industry?
Construction firms are filled with professional people solving very complex problems. The general population doesn't always give contractors proper respect as a profession. In my daily work, I try to demonstrate to others the professionalism our team displays.
What is your biggest current challenge at work?
Interest rate increases over the past 2 years have amplified the construction cost increases we felt for the previous 3-4 years. This double-whammy has tightened project budgets and slowed developers from proceeding with projects. It's derailed a few of ours.
What keeps you up at night?
The safety of our team is always my biggest concern. Making sure everyone gets home safely to their families is our first priority. Second is earning the satisfaction of our customers and getting paid for our work.
What project is your company most proud of?
Each one is as important as any other. I can't pick one. They're like our children.
How does your ABC membership help your company?
Being part of the community of builders, having others doing what we do to bounce ideas around, get feedback, and share advice are all great benefits of ABC. Having a list of professional trade contractors is also extremely valuable.

Develop projects for yourself, don't build only for others.
