Government Affairs
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) was created to be an advocacy voice for the merit construction industry and that remains a major focus of the Metro Washington Chapter today.
ABC of Metro Washington represents the interests of its members at the local and state levels of government regarding legislation and regulatory proposals which impact the merit construction industry. ABC lobbies on behalf of the industry in the District of Columbia, Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties and in Annapolis. ABC of Metro Washington is recognized as the voice of the merit construction industry in these jurisdictions.
How Can You Help?
The Metro Washington Chapter has four committees that review legislative proposals and other initiatives in each of these jurisdictions to determine their impact on the construction industry. The recommendations from these committees create position and policy statements on key issues ranging from Project Labor Agreements (PLAs), first source hiring agreements, fiscal issues, prevailing wage and other labor/management initiatives.
